Excavations in 2019

There will be two excavations in 2019, 13th to 24th of May and 2nd to 20th September.

The May excavation will consist of two trenches, one to continue the excavation of the Southwest corner we were unable to complete in September 2018, and another to re-examine the possible later entrance into the Keep. The latter will serve a dual purpose, firstly to determine the thickness of the South wall and secondly to check that the possible entrance does actually enter the Keep.

The September excavation will consist of one large or possibly two smaller trenches to examine further the unexpected wall exposed in September 2017. This will give us more information to help determine if there is another structure alongside the Keep and what its function may be.
